Digital environments

Digital Twins

Connected digital representations of buildings and assets that bring spatial data, geometry and operational information into one environment.

The problem

Building information is often distributed across drawings, spreadsheets, photographs, asset registers and the recollection of individual staff. This makes it difficult to understand how spaces and assets relate to one another or to keep operational information aligned with the physical site.

What we do

A digital twin connects captured geometry with structured building and asset information to create a spatial record that can support ongoing operations. Instead of treating the capture as a one-off project, the digital twin can be updated through agreed rescan cycles as spaces, equipment and assets change.

Suitable applications

  • Facility and asset management
  • Operations and maintenance planning
  • Space and capacity planning
  • Asset location and identification
  • Change and condition tracking
  • Supporting refurbishment and upgrade planning

Process

01

Project discovery

We establish the site, required accuracy, intended use, safety constraints and deliverable.

02

Capture planning

Methodology, scan-position density, site-access plan, control requirements and data management are agreed in writing.

03

Capture

Field capture follows the agreed site and safety procedures, with coverage checked before demobilisation.

04

Processing and quality control

Registration, cleaning and verification are completed with residuals recorded rather than assumed.

05

Delivery and support

Deliverables are issued in the agreed formats with clear file organisation and technical support.

Deliverables

  • Hosted spatial environment
  • Linked asset information
  • Asset and space data
  • Measurement tools
  • Shareable access links
  • Update and rescan schedule

Supported formats

Final formats are agreed according to project requirements, client software and intended use. We confirm support for a format after testing it against your software.

Accuracy considerations

A digital twin is current as at its last capture. Measurements taken from the underlying spatial data inherit the accuracy of the registered capture and are appropriate for checking and coordination, not for setting out.

Project-specific accuracy and methodology are confirmed during scope development. We do not publish a universal accuracy figure, because a single number cannot hold true across every site condition.
